Update/Correction: Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands is not a first person shooter. I think they initially intended it that way, but it is actually third person.
I recently talked about some of the upcoming free roam games to be released in 2017 for the PS4. One of them is a big one from Rockstar which is Red Dead Redemption 2. There’s already been a trailer released of what the game will look like and also that it might be from be a prequel of sorts to the first Red Dead Redemption game.
Well now there is news of a possible Red Dead Redemption 2 release date. Rockstar has already said it would be released towards the second half this year, but according to the site TechTimes, there are strong indications that the game will be released on October 20, 2017.
Why on October 20th? The article mentions that the website GameSeek has the game listed with a release date of October 20th. That would put it at a full year that the game was originally announced.
One thing though you have to remember is that Rockstar hasn’t officially revealed an exact release date yet so even though that site says October 20th, it is not officially from the game maker. Rockstar also has a history of delaying games so I wouldn’t be surprised if it is delayed until November or December or even into early next year.
Now with Rockstar turning a lot of attention to Red Dead Redemption 2 and strong rumors indicating that they are also turning lots of attention to developing the next Grand Theft Auto game, where does that leave Grand Theft Auto 5?
Rockstar has released lots of content last year that just makes playing the game online so much fun. With the new year now in full swing, it is being said that the amount of content being released for GTA 5 will start slowing down especially now with development ramped up on other games.
They’ve released so much good content though that honestly slowing it down a bit would not hurt it in the least. I personally would like to see a single player expansion released before they fully call it quits on new content for GTA V.
In other news of upcoming open world games this year, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands has an official ESRB rating. It has been rated mature because of the themes it showcases in the game which include extreme examples of violence, strong sexual themes, and even drug references.
It’s not surprising it got this rating especially since most first person shooters usually do and since this game takes place in a pretty much ruthless and lawless country, anything less than a Mature rating would seem unusual.
Nevertheless, I’m still quite interested in trying this game out given its open world nature. I doubt there will be any freeways and stuff and you probably won’t be able to do as many activities like you could in say Watch Dogs 2 or GTA V.
What are your thoughts on a possible release date of Red Dead Redemption 2? Do you think it really will be released in stores or online during that time or is a delay of the game imminent? Any thoughts on the rating for Ghost Recon Wildlands?
In the meantime, here’s a video of some of the game play from Ubisoft regarding their upcoming Ghost Recon game. I do like what’s being shown so far.
