How to Make Money in GTA 5 Online Part 2

Spread the love

There are different ways to make money in GTA 5 online, but now with so much content added to the game you might be wondering what the best options are. My favorite will always be the Survival Challenges, but I’ll admit I can’t make money as fast as some of the other, newer methods.

I’ve talked a lot about some of these updates in the past, but I will talk more about the money making aspects of them. I’ve made a decent amount of money from my Gunrunning Business and earned a nice chunk of change from doing the Doomsday Heist as well. I haven’t been fully involved in the making money aspect of the CEO activities yet, but with certain things nearing capacity, I’m nearly ready to start doing so, at least in the car portion of it anyway.

Gunrunning

I’ve talked a lot about this before so I don’t want to go into a lot of detail here, but suffice it to say, you can make quite a bit of money with Gunrunning. I’ve earned some decent money from the few times that I’ve actually sold guns to various places around the map with my largest haul being around $750,000.

What you really need to know in order to earn some money here is just a few of the basics. You need to have a bunker for your arms business, and you need to get supplies in order to manufacture the guns needed that can be sold. You usually have 2 options in regard to supplies, buying supplies or stealing them. I opt for the latter since I don’t like spending money for supplies. I’ve done it maybe only a couple of times.

There are different missions out there in regard to stealing some supplies with some being easier than others. I’ve mentioned some of these missions before such as the one where you have to steal a tank, one where you have to go deep inside a mine to retrieve supplies, and another where you have to take out helicopters flying over that will drop supplies to the ground.

Once you get them and deliver them back to the bunker, Agent 14 will let you know that your bunker crew will be hard at work manufacturing guns. It’ll take a little time for the value of your guns to increase once the stock increases which is indicated by a bar.

Unlocking new weapons in GTA 5
Gunrunning

I do want to say this though, the higher the value bar of the worth of your gun stock is, the more you’ll want to have others helping you out to deliver these weapons to specific areas of the map whenever you decide to sell them. I kind of learned that the hard way because there is a time limit to deliver all the weapons and there’s like 15 crates of weapons you have to deliver all over the map within the allotted time. The most I could get done within the allotted time was 5 and while I still got money for it, somewhere to the tune of $75,000 I believe, it was nowhere near the full amount which was around $800,000.

A few months ago, thanks to a crew I’m part of, I was able to sell an entire stock of guns worth $750,000 that I mentioned above. I had about 4 others help with the delivery of the weapons and while it did take some time to deliver them all, we were able to do it within the time limit. I made sure they were compensated for helping me out.

I do want to warn you though, that it is best to deliver guns in a map by yourself or definitely have a well armed crew helping you because if you’re in a map with other players, your delivery of gun stock will show up on the map and a lot of times other players will do what they can to try to stop you.

This happened to me once and I had others helping me to deliver them as well, but we were just not able to get it done as another player in a fighter jet ended up taking us out and destroying my gun supplies. Needless to say, I was not too happy with that, but I do have some heavy-duty vehicles that have anti-aircraft missiles on them so I might utilize that whenever I do more Gunrunning shipments in the future.

Doomsday Heist

You can make some good money with the Doomsday Heist especially at the conclusion of each of the 3 Acts. If you are the one that’s initiating the Doomsday Heist, then that’s really the only way you’ll get any good amount of money. On the other hand, if you’re invited to participate in someone else’s Doomsday Heist missions, you’ll definitely get paid for it.

I’m currently in Act 3 and the Prep Missions as well as the Setup Missions, I don’t get paid for completing them. In fact, when starting each Act, I have to pay money to get things going. It’s not a ton, but still kind of stinks. The final mission of each Act though certainly makes up for it.

You do have to have other players with you when doing the Setup missions as well as the final mission for each Act and you also have to distribute a cut of the money from that final mission to each player. It’s up to you to decide how much of a cut each player gets, but you’ll still get the majority of that money.

I did get an argument with another player when doing the last mission for Act 2 as he wanted a much larger cut than I was willing to give in order for him helping me to complete the mission. I gave him a little larger cut than what the other players were getting, but he still wasn’t satisfied with that. I decided not to do the mission then since he kept wanting a much higher cut and I was able to do the mission later on with other players who were more willing to accept the amount of money they were getting upon successful completion.

After Act 2 was finished, I was able to haul in over $500,000 while the other players also got a cut which if I remember correctly the entire pool of money was around $750,000. I know if you get through the mission without getting killed or even doing other things successfully such as getting nothing but head shots on enemies, the amount of money you get goes up. It’s not an easy thing to do though especially when the missions get a lot harder.

CEO Business Empire

The CEO Business Empire is one I’m still getting used to and haven’t made a significant amount of money from it yet though I have dabbled with its money making possibilities just to see what’s possible or what I can earn. I know I did talk about what it really means to be a CEO in my previous article which you can read here.

Right now, my main focus has been on acquiring special cars that can later be resold for a commission/profit. I’ve only sold a couple of vehicles just to see what can be made, but it has generally been anywhere from $15,000 to over $20,000 commission. It also really depends on what vehicle is being sold and who the buyer is plus getting the car to its destination without taking any damage.

The biggest thing that I’m currently working is filling up my garage with the maximum number of cars that’s allowed. I’m nearly there with it currently being at 90% capacity. Once it’s completely full, I plan on selling each one of them. One thing that’s nice is that you can get others to help you get more than one vehicle to its destination so that you can get more profit in one go around.

Earning some money
Delivering the car for profit

I’ve helped others do this in the past just to see what I can expect when I eventually wanted to do this as a business myself. Now similar to what I said about Gunrunning, when delivering cars to the buyers, you’ll generally want to do this with as little players as possible in the lobby because the cars will be visible to them and they can get rewarded for trying to take them out.

If you don’t feel like messing with cars then there is another route you can take and that’s acquiring and selling different items that you’ll want to store at a warehouse. You get different things to be sold at a profit such as artwork, jewels, medical supplies, weapons, ammo, and more. The only thing I’ve done with this is purchase a warehouse to start storing some of the items that I want to sell which is currently artwork, but the more in demand certain items are, the greater the chance of earning a nice profit.

Smuggler’s Run

As I mentioned in my previous article, the Smuggler’s Run content is one I haven’t been very involved with yet, but it is a good way to earn some money.

I’m not going to go into the specifics of what’s needed in order to participate in Smuggler’s Run as I mentioned those things in my previous article, but suffice it to say, you’ll definitely need a plane to fly in order to deliver your contraband so you can earn some cash. The good thing is that you’ll at least get one when you pass the test mission with Ron.

The way to earn money with Smuggler’s Run is a bit similar to the other CEO activities, mainly with contraband. There’s narcotics, chemicals, medical supplies, animal materials, arts & antiques, jewelry & gemstones, tobacco & alcohol, and counterfeit goods.

You can store up to 50 of each of these (make sure you have a hangar) and then sell them or do source missions through the Free Trade Shipping Co. website. Each one of these items sells for $10,000 so if you have multiples you want to sell, be sure to have others helping you out, otherwise it’ll be very tough to nearly impossible to deliver them all by yourself.

The Mogul

When doing these source missions, you’ll want to be careful because just like Gunrunning and CEO Missions, your contraband that’s being delivered can be targeted by other players and they’ll either steal it or destroy it thus ending your run for making profit. You’ll probably want a heavily armed plane or fighter jet just for that reason.

I do plan on getting back into Smugglers Run as another way to earn some money online, but I certainly need to increase my plane skills as they aren’t that great at the moment. I’ll definitely post some updates of my experiences when I jump back into it so stay tuned.

Racing

I’ve talked about racing before and the fact that you can earn money from it, but to be honest this is probably the method that I used the least. Very few times have I come in first place and the higher the place you come in, the lower the amount of money that you can earn.

The races that I’ve participated in the past have been the Cunning Stunts content that was released some time ago. Those races are kind of crazy, but fun as they have all kinds of loops, ramps, jumps, speed boats, and more and can take place way up in the air above the city or other parts of the map.

There’s only been a couple of times that I’ve actually come in first from these races and won some money, which could be anywhere from $10,000 or less. The other times I’ve come in below 3rd place I end up getting anywhere from $3,000 or less.

As you can see, it’s not a very big money maker for me so I pretty much stick to the other activities that I’ve mentioned above. If you’re good at racing though and usually finish in the top 3, then it can be a decent money maker for you. There are other types of races to that involve regular street racing to the use of motorbikes and now there are some new races called Weeny Issi Classic Races.

These type of races involve a vehicle made in Great Britain which is the Weeny Issi, and are set at 7 brand new tracks designed specifically for this vehicle. I haven’t tried them yet as these races are pretty new to GTA 5 Online, but I might give them a shot in the future.

Well folks, there you have it. Part 2 of my how to make money in GTA 5 online series. There are actually some other ways to earn money online that I haven’t covered yet such as becoming President of a Motorcycle club and doing certain missions to earn a nice chunk of change.

In the meantime, check out the video below of a recent export of one of my vehicles from my Import/Export business as a CEO. This one turned out to be very lucrative for me as I chose the highest option of getting commission for the delivery of a vehicle, but I had to pay some cash to add the needed modifications in order to receive the high commission. The challenge is getting it where it needs to go without taking damage, but that is far easier said than done as you’ll see in the video below. Post comments below on how you earn money on GTA 5 Online.

  1. My brother loves gta but he always complains about the money. I will suggest him to do Doomsday Heist. However he is a total beginner and I wonder whether he can do it easily or not. Is it suitable for him or do you recommend other missions for someone like him?

    1. The Doomsday Heist can be a little tricky especially if you’re not used to doing heist missions. There are other heists you can do online that should give him some practice, especially doing heists with other players. Once he feels comfortable with that, I would say to go ahead and give the Doomsday Heist missions a try.

  2. Hey, thanks for the help I bought the game lately (i know I’m late…) and I struggle a lot on how to make money in GTA 5 online.
I have to say I play mostly alone because no friend of mine has a ps4, too bad for me 😉

I’d really like to try playing heists, do you know a way to find people and make a group of serious players, maybe that way I could make money more quickly!
I have an expensive car in mind :p

    Thanks!

    1. The best thing to do is when you get those pop ups on your screen of invites to missions and jobs, accept them and help the player/players out. The more of those you do and the more helpful you are, the better the chance you may get invited to be a part of their crew. Sometimes in the regular free mode, you might offer other players to ride around with you or you end up going with them and maybe even take out other players, but that is a bit harder considering a lot of people are out for themselves and want to do nothing, but take out other players.
