The Latest on my Open World Games

Spread the love

March has been a huge month for open world games on the PS4. I recently posted my first impressions on the remastered version of the open world racer known as Burnout Paradise. I’m in the very beginning stages of the game so I still have a long way to go before I have a proper review.

I’ve also continued to play GTA 5 online and I’ve advanced even further on Rockstar’s biggest GTA V downloadable content. It has been an enjoyable and sometimes frustrating experience, but I’ll get into that in a little bit.

Finally, we are at the end of March and a HUGE open world game has just been released. It has been hyped up quite a bit and with good reason since this series is very well-known for being open world as well as a first person shooter. It is currently being reviewed by some of the biggest gaming sites out there and they’ve had plenty of impressions and previews of the game. Without further ado, here is the latest update on my open world games.

Far Cry 5 has Arrived

As the title says above, Far Cry 5 is now finally here. I purchased it for the PS4 Pro and unlike Burnout Paradise, I ended up buying a physical copy of the game.

I also ended up buying a special collector’s edition book of the game which features a complete walk through of the game as well as a massive poster of the game world known as Hope County, Montana.

I actually don’t have a lot of experience with the Far Cry series and while I bought Far Cry 4 towards the end of last year, I really didn’t get into mainly because my focus was on GTA 5 and the latest content released for it.

Nevertheless, I’m very excited for this game and the large open world that I get to explore in it. This is the first time the series has ever been in America and so a lot of people are paying pretty close attention to the game especially of what the game’s story centers around.

I definitely play to start playing it later tonight and post my first impressions of the game soon after. The good news is that I’ve already got the game installed as well as all the latest updates that are usually needed when a new game is released. Check back soon to see what I think about my first foray into this awesome game.

Burnout Paradise Remastered

I’m still trucking a long so to speak on this game. I’m really loving it and the challenges that are presented to it as well as getting to play multiplayer for the very first time. I can tell you that I certainly have a long way to go in order to keep up with the other players in the game considering that they have stronger and faster vehicles.

I’ve only unlocked 2 other cars and so I really need to get going in order to hang with the big boys. One thing I will have to say, it’s taking me a while to get used to the races in the game because I’m so used to GTA and some other racing games having a guided GPS to the finish line or checkpoints.

Instead, you have a compass that you’ll have to use in order to guide you to the finish line and sometimes that can be tough since you pretty much have free rein on which route you want to take in order to finish the race. Sometimes that can be a bad thing because if you take a wrong turn, the other AI controlled racers will usually take a different path and all of a sudden you start to fall behind very quickly.

This has happened to me on a few races already in which I had to do them over, but I was usually able to successfully win them whenever I did them all a second time. Once I start studying the map and remembering streets and stuff, then I start to do a lot better on the races.

One thing that I must say is that the Road Rage challenges are my absolute favorites. It is a blast trying to take out other racers and having them try to take me out as well. There can be some pretty wild takedowns that result from this which causes some crazy crashes. Right now, they’ve actually been pretty easy, but I know that the further I advance in the game, the tougher they will actually get as I certainly do remember that in the XBox 360 version from years ago.

The Doomsday Heist Continues in GTA 5

I’m still in the midst of the Doomsday Heist in the online portion of GTA 5. I’m in Act 2, but I’m now moving through the setup missions, having already completed all the prep missions needed for this 2nd Act.

I recently completed the second setup mission, but let me tell you, it was a very tough experience trying to get it completed, because there were a lot of player deaths and mission restarts as well as many players abandoning the mission causing me not to continue on.

ECUs

I was finally able to get with a group of players who were determined to get this mission completed just like I was and we were successful in getting it done even though we did have a certain amount of restarts.

Stay tuned as I plan to post my experiences with all the setup missions in Act 2 of the Doomsday Heist. As I said earlier, I’ve only completed two of them thus far and have another two to complete as well as the final mission of Act 2. It should be really interesting considering this Act has to deal with a Russian sub off of the coast of San Andreas.

Full Reviews Coming Soon

I know I’ve been a little lax on game reviews, but I want to get the full scope of these wonderful open world games to grace the PS4 so that I can give a proper review on them. One review I’ve been wanting to do is Watch Dogs 2. I had started that game, but there was an issue with it and I had to delete it off of my original PS4.

Now that I have a PS4 Pro, I definitely plan on reinstalling the game soon and give Watch Dogs 2 another try. I really did enjoy what I did get to experience from it which was seeing a great recreation of San Francisco and some of its surrounding areas.

One of the funniest things I do remember happening in the game is that I ran up to a random pedestrian and ended up punching him in the face and then I ran off just a little ways and started walking down the street. Well, the pedestrian didn’t disappear and actually caught up to me and started punching me. It was just at that time that a police car drove by and saw what has happening to me, put their lights and sirens on, got out of their car and arrested the pedestrian for hitting me.

I laughed my head off, but I was actually in awe because I’ve been wanting to see more stuff like this happen in the GTA series. That’s one thing that I think is a bit lax in GTA and that’s having pedestrians get in trouble with the law for doing things that you yourself would get in trouble for in the game. I know there’re random events in the game, but in my opinion, they don’t happen near enough.

A Great Time for Open World Games

Now that you know the latest on my open world games for the PS4, now is a great time to try some of these open world games for yourself. March has been a great month as two open world games have been released one of which has a lot of people very excited.

You know about Burnout Paradise Remastered and it is selling for a great price right now and some retailers are selling it even lower for a limited time. The game is a massive adrenaline rush in my opinion and I’ve loved what I have played of it thus far.

Now like I said earlier, I did pick up Far Cry 5 and have installed it on my PS4 Pro, but haven’t given it a whirl yet. I have a lot of time coming up this weekend and I will definitely post my first impressions of the game as I’m very excited to start exploring Hope County. As always, feel free to leave comments especially if you purchased Far Cry 5 and have given it a try already.

  1. I always enjoy reading Games Websites and thought your post about Open World Games was really good. In my spare time I always like to go onto my PS4 and play Simulation/Open World Games as I’m usually picky as to what games I like to play.

Your post was very interesting and packed full of information to anyone who’s also interested in Open World Games.

    1. These are games I think you should definitely get for your PS4. Far Cry 5, Burnout Paradise Remastered, and GTA 5 are all amazing experiences to be had and I’m very excited to try out Far Cry 5 soon.

  2. I look forward to your review and impressions on Far Cry 5. As a fan of the Far Cry series, Far Cry Primal was abit disappointing to me as it felt like a reskin of the previous Far Cry games. As for Burnout Paradise I remembered playing one of its games in a friend’s house many years ago. Maybe I’ll give it a try in the near future, because as you said, It is a blast trying to take out cars and being taken out yourself!

    1. I’ve never been one who has really played the Far Cry series before, but I’ve always heard good things about them. A former co-worker has always urged me to play them, well now I have Far Cry 4 and 5 so I need to give both of them a whirl especially since they are both open world. I’m really excited to try out Far Cry 5 since it takes place in the US in a fictional county of Montana.
